Jimmy Stewart’s,“Beau”

images-jimmy-stewart-stamp1Sometimes you think of posting something that has nothing to do with the theme of your blog. This may be one of those times. I am a long-time fan of Jimmy Stewart, the actor. I thought of him as a decent, human being that loved his country and understood his fellowman. He was a delightful actor. This posting has nothing to do with Mr. Stewart’s religious leanings. Frankly, I don’t know about them. I never met the man, yet I always felt I had. Perhaps you enjoyed his work, too. If so, you will appreciate this entry. I did and I do. Each time I hit the play button I have to listen to the entire reading. It’s compelling and at the end, i’m not sure, but it just might be a good post for this blog after all. See what you think.

I am grateful to the March 8, 2009, issue of SE Edition of American Profile for reminding me of the poem written by James Stewart, the movie actor. Mr. Stewart read this poem on the Johnny Carson TV show. I learned that the clip of that reading was widely distributed on the Internet. I found one and here it is:

An ordained Baptist minister. Worked for 10 years with a Christian publishing ministry where I was the circulation manager for a growing publication, The Sword of the Lord. I also did most of direct mail fundraising and promotion. I have pastored churches in Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama & Arkansas. I served for some four years as Vice President of The Spoken Word of God ministry, Orlando, FL. This ministry was active in church planting in India and broadcasting the Scriptures via Trans World Radio and other radio outlets. My associate in this ministry later invited me to join him and his dad in starting a business working with churches providing multimedia equipment. I have done this work for the last 16 years. This blog, hopefully, will scratch an itch I have for communicating the Word of God to a broader audience via the Internet. I would be honored to hear from you via email.
